Dinghy Lessons
A great way to learn the basic skill of sailing. Dinghies are small boats usually crewed by one or two people. You'll learn the basic theory as well as getting some on the water practice. The dinghy lessons are done in two levels with each level broken down into 2 days
.
Basic Dinghy Course Description
Basic Dinghy - Day 1
Morning Session (10:00 - 12:30)
In the first unit we'll start off learning the theory behind sailing and become familiar with the different parts of the boats. Then we'll watch a short video reviewing and demonstrating what you've learned up to that point. Next, you'll get your hands on a real boat. You'll be taught how to properly rig the boat. Once the boat is rigged, we'll practice some maneuvers on land.
Lunch Break (12:30 - 1:30)
We do not provide lunch so pack a lunch, or you can order food at the marina. There is also a Korean restaurant as well as a McDonald nearbye.
Afternoon Session (1:30 - 4:00)
We'll take the boats to the ramp and an instructor will demonstrate how to launch and land the boat. The instructor will also demonstrate some basic maneuvers as well as what to do in case of a capsize. Then you'll practice launching and landing. Once you got a hang of it, you'll start practicing on a reaching course inside the safety of the marina. Finally, we'll show you how to break down the boats and have a wrap-up session in the classroom.
Basic Dinghy - Day 2
Morning Session (10am - 12:30)
We'll start off by rigging the boats. Then we'll get you back into the water practicing the reaching course first, and move onto a beating course. While the reaching course requires only tacking, the beating course will require you the jibe as well.
Lunch Break (12:30 - 1:30)
Afternoon Session (1:30 - 4:00)
Weather permitting, we'll finally venture out of the marina. We'll practice some manuevers, then we'll give you some time to play around a bit with your new found sailing skills. It is important to note that your safety comes first, so the weather must be safe enough or we will stay inside the marina. After we finish, you will get a certificate showing that you have finished your basic sailing course.
Dinghy Master Course Description
Dinghy Master - Day 1
Morning Session (10am - 12:30)
We'll start off by reviewing what we learned in the Basic Course. We'll learn more about how to fine tune the boat to get optional speed. Then we'll move to the boats and have you rig them. We'll practice launching and retrieving, then practice a beating course inside the marina.
Lunch Break (12:30 - 1:30)

We'll head out of the marina, and practice some maneuvers such as stop and go and getting as close to the wind as possible. We'll play some follow the leader and maybe even have a race or two. On the way back, if the weather is warm enough, we'll practice capsizing if you haven't already done so.
Dinghy Master - Day 2
